Mommyfeels favorite: Baby wearing

babywearing

Baby wearing is definitely an activity for me! An activity and, may I say, a workout in itself. Especially when my 3 month old baby weighs 15lbs. and my 18 month old weighs 25 lbs. Carrying them while walking around is definitely a workout. I always wear my babies. I may not be capable of wearing them both at the same time, but if i could I would! Continue reading

There’s a new Belasco in town!

noahpic

“Hello world!” from, the newest addition to my favourite family, baby Noah Nehemiah Yunon Belasco! Isn’t he precious??? My heart melted the day I saw him for the first time, it was like I was being brought back to the time Kheira was just born. I had forgotten how tiny they are the first few weeks out. He was longer though! 21 inches at birth to be exact. Coming from two towering parents; one a professional basketball player, Nic Belasco and a beauty queen, Mafae Belasco Continue reading

6 months with a new whip!

It’s time! While Kheira is still learning to crawl – Nana (what my mum decided for her to be called by Kheira) bought Kheira her first walker for her 6 months! HAPPY 6 MONTHS Love! I know its suppose to be crawling first before walking, but it is positively cute! I love the face she makes when she sees something new, shiny or full of lights. The amazement in her face and the was she looks at me – if she could talk she would’ve said, “Mommy what is this amazing thing??!?”

Kheira’s Dedication

KDBanner
What is a dedication? A lot of people ask me that question when they found out that Kheira will not be baptised but rather she will be ‘Dedicated’.
For those who do not know what a child dedication is, it is – literally – the act of dedicating. Ha! Bet you didn’t know that lol (just kidding). In this case, we are dedicating my child to Jesus Christ. As a Christian, I chose to do this because I believe that one should know when and what it means to be baptised by the Holy Spirit. I chose to dedicate Kheira to Jesus Christ to show our family, friends and community that my husband and I will be responsible parents taking on to bring Kheira up in the fear the Lord, in faith and teach her how to live life, the best way we can, as a good Christian and servant of the Lord.

Meeting Ninang(Godmother) Chloe

I, for one, am not good at keeping secrets. I’m like a ticking bomb. For the most part to those whom I’m very close with, i.e. my husband. We’ve known each other and have been friends for so long we’ve come to tell each other everything. Even the boring noting of our everyday lives. Especially now that we’re married, I find it hard to keep things from him. So, imagine my surprise when my father-in-law gave me information on the biggest secret from my husband and mother-in-law I had to keep for about 2 months. His only sibling and sister, Chloe, is coming to the Philippines to visit us. It was the secret of the century for me. It was a mission!

Love your bones Bloggers event by Pfizer and Caltrate Plus

lyb.event-e

Did you know that there is a World Osteoporosis Day? It is celebrated every 20th of October. And it has been celebrated since 1997! Last October 29, 2010 I was invited to a Pfizer event called “Love Your Bones

lyb.event-g

Its pretty self explanatory and I could not have agreed more. As a full time mom and with a growing baby I need all the strength I can get!

They actually had a bone measurement device that allowed them to check and give you an estimated report on your bone density (fyi bone density means the amount of minerals in your bones). Results would say if your bones are in normal state or if they find a that you are in risk of having osteoporosis. I had mine done and if you would think that a 24-year old like me would have strong bones at a young age, you’re wrong!

lyb.event-a copy lyb.event-p copy

If you didn’t notice, in the result findings, they ticked that I my result was Osteopenia. What is Osteopenia, you ask me? I didn’t know at first, but it said ‘Osteo’ on the word itself so I knew it wasn’t too good. It meant that my bone mineral density is lower than normal. In short, I may or may not be a candidate for osteoporosis. Which makes sense, because I remember when I was a kid I ALMOST had to wear a back brace. Thank goodness my mum got into sports and yoga, and not have to go through that! Whew!

lyb.event

Me with host Andi Manzano (center) and co-mommy and blogger Mafae Belasco (left).

The event was very informative. It was hosted by the lovely Ms Andi Manzano (If you haven’t seen her baby Olivia you have to, follow her ig @oliviareyes) We had a little live cooking show from the chef’s of Holiday Inn, Makati that showed us how to easily make quiche at home. Quiche?? Yes quiche. It is a great snack/meal to make at home for the family that is packed with the food group that is good for our bones. What’s great about a good quiche is you can customized what you wanna put in it. Yummy!

Quiche

Finished product! Délicieux!

There were other speakers such as Ms. Ana (bikhram yoga expert and teacher) who was kind enough to show us a few yoga moves/stretches that we can easily do at home and in our own time to prevent this silent killer (Osteoporosis). Why silent? Well according to Dra. Julie osteoporosis is considered a silent killer. Nobody knows their actual bone density state, and for all you know you have it already. She has some patients who accidentally slip and has broken their hip, spine fractures, and some who just cough and breaks their bone because they’re so weak and brittle. Anything can happen at any given time. That is why this campaign was created, to spread awareness.

As I was saying, as a mom with a growing baby, I need all the strength I can get. With knowing that I may or may not be a candidate for osteoporosis is scary! Prevention is key! I still need to carry Kheira everywhere we go (I know I don’t have to but I love to lol) Baby-wearing can take its toll on your back as well as breastfeeding. Thanks to Caltrate Plus I can have that prevention. I was taking Caltrate Plus as well when I was pregnant, I just need to be consistent this time! I have an upcoming toddler and I still need to run around with her! We still have a load of playtime to conquer and a lot of carrying her and CARING for her. Mommy needs to be strong and healthy for all of that!

Happy 4 months to my baby girl!

Processed with VSCOcam with c1 preset
Another month has yet passed us by. And I anticipate every 27th day she turns another month older. Kheira has opened my eyes to life’s little miracles. Her life advancing everyday just stuns me!
♥   ♥   ♥
This was how I grew up in my mum’s very eyes. I can’t explain this feeling, but my husband thinks I’m crazy. Everyday there’s always a point in time where I see myself staring at her and admiring this little human I made. She’s incredible; her eyes, her smile, when she grabs my fingers, when she touches my face. I get a heavy feeling in my heart, a lump in a throat and a lil’ tear in my left eye. Oh how sweet is it to be loved by this lil’ human.
Her amazing improvements this month:
  • turns to her sides, both left and right
  • grabs her toes
  • grabs your hair, your shirt, your necklace, everything and anything she gets her hands on!
  • crawls with her head slightly up
  • can lift her head up all the way when she’s on her belly
  • reaches for her dangling toys
  • sucks all fingers
  • drools everywhere
  • talks back when you talk to her (though she seems to respond more when you talk to her in Tagalog.)
  • mimics face and mouth expressions
  • Laughs and smiles ALOT
  • Able to drink from the bottle when mommy isn’t around to fed her
  • comfortable being in her stroller while wandering around the mall

So far that’s pretty much what she’s all about now… The list keeps growing and I’m over here, looking all goofy, cheering every move she makes

From Jerseys to Onesies

Time really does fly, don’t it? Especially when you meet old friends for play dates instead of night outs. From changing outfits to changing diapers – From drinking beers and poppin’ bottles to feeding milk into baby bottles and pacifiers. Its crazy to see these transitions.

Last weekend we were invited to the birthday celebration of our friend and my husband’s old teammate, Don Dulay, from when he played for Singapore Slingers in ABL (Asean Basketball League). They both met when they were both still single and still playing professional basketball. I can only imagine what they were up to during those times! Aaaahhh… the single life! And now, here they are several years later; Married and with babies!

Don and Glaiza (Don’s wife) have a little baby boy named Dylan. Glaiza and I met when we were both pregnant so this was Kheira and I’s first time meeting baby Dylan and he’s already 7 months old! This was the first time we’re both seeing each other without our bellies. Aaahhh… memories. Sometimes I still miss my big belly (who’s with me??) It actually became an impromptu baby playdate! I was really excited for her to meet Dylan. First play date! Yay!

This was the first time Kheira has interacted with another baby up-close and Dylan was such a delight! Here are some of their cute out-takes from that night…

Trading places real quick because mommy wants a lil boy after Kheira and uncle Don wants a baby girl next!

Dylan is soo sweet trying to hold Kik’s hand

I can’t wait until Kheira and Dylan can have an actual play date where we don’t have to hold them up to play with each other! I can just imagine it… both of them in a play pen on soft cushiony play mats helping each other build blocks or play catch with soft (baby approved) playing balls. I said the word ‘play’ about four times (yes, I counted). Is that accurate?? I’m new at play dates so I’m not so sure how to imagine how play dates really go.. (two more times!) Hahaha!

Nevertheless, here we are, now a bunch of parents getting together with our kids, stroller on each of our sides with our big bulky baby bags. It’s another journey in our lives and I don’t think its going to stop there!

Look at us all grown up! This is another journey for all of us and I’m excited!

Happy 28th Birthday Daddy!

Yesterday was my better half’s birth day (now my husband). This is the first birthday he celebrated with our Kheira Delvi So you already know its special…

we had a little impromptu dinner celebration with my dear mother-in-law at Vikings Megamall.

28thVC28thVC2.0

In Vikings, if its your birthday they give you this really sweet birthday greeting cake, and with it, comes a (I wanna say mariachi) band that sings mash-up songs inputting ‘happy birthday’ in the chorus. They’re really fun, though Kheira wasn’t too happy when they came. Well, that and probably because they woke her up from her nap. This year was quite easy to get my hubby a gift for his birthday since NBA 2k16 came out couple of days before his birthday – which he absolutely must have. My plan was to buy the video game, buy a picture frame the same size as the video game and put a real nice family picture of us in it and wrap them both – giving them to him separately. Picture frame first (he will think its the game) and then the actual – wrapped – game, making him think I didn’t get him the game but I actually did. Of course that DID NOT happen. The day it came out (or the next day I think) we happened to be at the mall with his friend and they were discussing on HOW to get the game, because apparently there was a “waiting list” and they were gonna try to see if any of the vendors would sell to them even if they weren’t on the list. Long story short – there was no list. I was afraid the game would sell out, so I bought it that day. So much for my surprise, right? So I came up with another surprise – which was his birthday cake – which I know is one of his favorite cakes 🙂 After his lil’ birthday dinner, me, Kheira and my mother- in-law quickly prepared upstairs – cake, candle and all – while he parked the car. When he opened the door.. tadah!

ca

To Vaughn: It wasn’t much, but I hope we still made you feel extra special on your day. Loving you xx

I have posted on twitter, Facebook and instagram our (Kheira and I’s) birthday greeting. This, however, is NOT a birthday greeting but more of a sentimental note. I’m not trying to be cheesy. I just have a lot of nice things to say about my ‘husband‘ I’m still trying to get used to calling him that, by the way, but I’m overjoyed. Still a little weirded out about it every now and then, but nevertheless still overjoyed. (Hahaha!) We used to say, “we’re in this together” when we hit a bump and it gave me comfort knowing he got my back. Now, I really know what you meant by that.

07.24.15 #MarriedMyBestFriend

You were more than I expected. You made me the person I am today. And I can proudly say (with no shame) that he made me a better person. Because of you I’m a good mother, I’m a better friend and hopefully I will be the best wife. I’m still learning, because let’s face it, this is my first time. This year was, by far, the best year I’ve ever had because of him! It was a lot of ups and downs, emotional and physical hurdles, but we got through it and is still getting through. He is the rock that holds this family together. He was there where I experience the worst depression after my baby girl was born. He kept me inline and assured my feelings through it all; the pregnancy, giving birth and now taking care of the baby. You are my sound mind and my conscience. I couldn’t ask for anybody better!

Thank you for being amazing…
